Born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota, and graduating with a Business Management degree from the University of South Dakota in 1979, my career has come full circle back to First Western Federal Savings Bank.
Starting with Norwest Banks in Rapid City over 34 years ago, I have had great opportunities to form new DeNovo banks in this market, manage banks in South Dakota and Arizona, and run a regional loan center in Prescott, Arizona for The Stockman’s Bank, an independent bank in Arizona. During this time, I learned many valuable lessons, not the least of which is that independent small banks are much more customer responsive and fun to work for than large mega banks.
In 1997, when my wife Vicki and I were driving back and forth to Rapid City to visit our aging parents, we both agreed that moving back here to help care for their coming transitions would be far more efficient than trying to do so from 1400 miles away. We took the leap, made the move back from Arizona, and in 1998 I started with FWFSB. It has been a terrific fit and a move that I have enjoyed immensely.
The best part of working here is the close and personal interactions that we all have with our customers and the staff here at First Western Federal. I truly enjoy coming into work each morning.
The Black Hills are a beautiful area, and when I’m not here in the bank, I enjoy mountain biking, alpine skiing, classic and sports cars.
